YouTubeチャンネルの第5回として、日本代表をテーマにしたサッカー英会話リスニング教材を公開しました。

ネイティブ同士の自然な会話を使い、英語リスニング・シャドーイング練習に使える内容です。

今回の動画では、日本代表のグループ構成や対戦国、選手層や注目選手について、サッカー好き同士が語り合うA/B形式の英会話を収録しています。

A：
So… Japan’s group looks pretty tough, right?

でさ、日本のグループって結構きついよね？

B：
Yeah. The Netherlands are a top team.
Tunisia also qualified without conceding a single goal in Africa.

そう。オランダは強豪だし、
チュニジアもアフリカ予選を無失点で突破している。

A：
And the third team isn’t decided yet, right?

あと1か国はまだ決まってないんだよね？

B：
Right. It’ll be a European playoff winner.
Ukraine, Sweden, Poland, or Albania.

そう。ヨーロッパのプレーオフ勝者。
ウクライナ、スウェーデン、ポーランド、アルバニアのどれか。

A：
Honestly… that sounds rough.
So do we actually have a chance?

正直……きつそうだね。
じゃあ、日本にチャンスはあるの？

B：
I think so.
This team is stronger than in 2018 and 2022.

あると思う。
2018年や2022年より、今の方が強い。

A：
Why is that?

どうして？

B：
Most players now play in Europe,
and that has completely changed the level of this team.
The squad depth is incredible.

今は大半の選手がヨーロッパでプレーしていて、
それがチーム全体のレベルを大きく変えている。
選手層がとにかく厚い。

B：
Even in defensive midfield,
Endo, Morita, Sano, Kamada, and Ao Tanaka are competing.

中盤の底だけでも、
遠藤、守田、佐野、鎌田、田中碧が競っている。

A：
Just getting minutes sounds hard.
Among all those midfielders,
is there anyone who really stands out to you?

出場するだけでも大変そうだね。
その中盤の選手たちの中で、
特に際立っている選手はいる？

B：
Yes. Sano really stands out.
He can defend on his own
and still connect defense to attack smoothly.

いる。佐野は本当に際立っている。
1人で守れて、
しかも守備から攻撃までをスムーズにつなげられる。

B：
What makes him special
is his incredible stamina and work rate.

彼を特別な存在にしているのは、
驚異的なスタミナと運動量だ。

B：
Even though Endo is the captain,
he can’t afford to feel secure in that position.

遠藤がキャプテンとはいえ、
そのポジションに安泰はない。

B：
After the World Cup,
I’m sure Sano will move to a big European club.

ワールドカップ後には、
佐野は間違いなくビッグクラブに移籍すると思う。

A：
Do you have any concerns
about this team going into the tournament?

大会に向けて、
このチームに不安な点はある？

B：
The biggest concern is injuries in defense,
especially Tomiyasu.

一番の不安はディフェンス陣の怪我だ。
特に冨安だね。

B：
If he’s fully fit,
he makes a huge difference for Japan.

もし万全なら、
日本にとって本当に大きな存在になる。

B：
But with his injury history,
that’s always a question.

ただ、怪我が多いのが
常に不安材料なんだ。

A：
But up front, Japan looks exciting.

でも、前線は楽しみだよね。

B：
Kubo, Mitoma, Doan, Nakamura.
And Ueda is scoring a lot in the Netherlands.

久保、三笘、堂安、中村。
それに上田はオランダでゴールを量産している。

A：
Is there any player
you personally enjoy watching the most?

個人的に、一番見るのが楽しい選手はいる？

B：
Definitely Maeda.
What he does off the ball
is just as impressive as his speed.

間違いなく前田だね。
スピードだけでなく、
ボールを持っていない時の動きもすごい。

B：
He keeps pressing defenders at full speed
from the first minute to the last.

試合開始から最後まで、
全力で相手DFにプレッシャーをかけ続ける。

B：
He runs like a sprinter,
but has the stamina of a marathon runner.

短距離選手のように走り、
マラソン選手並みのスタミナを持っている。

B：
For defenders,
having to face Maeda for ninety minutes
is a complete nightmare.

ディフェンダーにとって、
90分間前田と対峙するのは完全な悪夢だ。

B：
How to use Maeda effectively
will be one of the key decisions for Japan.

前田をどう効果的に使うかが、
日本にとって重要な判断の一つになる。

A：
That actually makes me want to watch Japan.

それ聞いたら、日本代表見たくなってきた。
